LAURA’S STORY:
a style-driven journey
I didn't set out to build a business around style. I set out to understand people.
Style was always personal to me — not in a superficial way, but in the way I noticed how what I wore changed how I felt walking into a room, how people responded to me, and how something shifted internally before a single word was spoken. I became fascinated by that dynamic long before I had the language to explain it.
When I launched LKS & Co. nearly a decade ago, I started where most stylists do — helping individuals build wardrobes that worked for their lives. But what I kept discovering, client after client, was that the transformation was never really about the clothes. It was about what happened when someone finally felt aligned; when the outside matched the inside. The confidence that followed wasn't manufactured. It was uncovered.
That realization sent me deeper. Into psychology. Into behavioral science. Into research on perception, first impressions, nonverbal communication, and the science of how we read each other before we've exchanged a single word. It led me to pursue research in psychology at Harvard because I needed to understand not just what was happening with my clients but why.
What emerged is what I now call the Applied Psychology of Style — a framework that treats style not as aesthetics, but as behavior. One that connects how you dress to how you lead, communicate, build trust, and show up under pressure. It's the foundation of everything I do, whether I'm working one-on-one with an individual client, advising a leadership team, or speaking to an audience of thousands.
Style, I've come to believe, is one of the most underleveraged tools we have. Every single person has style. The question is whether they're using it intentionally. And that's exactly what I'm here for.
